Five years ago I moved to the United States from my home country of Tajikistan. I spoke little English and primarily had a background
in finance and accounting of several years. After moving here, I decided that I not only needed to learn English, but also to make a real
effort to pursue a career within the software development industry. Being in the United States, I realized that this was an actual possibility
now and that I had more control than ever before to make this a reality. So after I learned enough English, I began to do research on the software
industry itself and the basic principles of programming.
The first major step I made toward pursuing this career path was by signing up for General Assembly's Software Engineering Immersive program in
Washington D.C. Initially, I was largely attracted to frontend development and design. However, after learning more about backend development in
depth, my problem solving and analytical skills kicked in, and I found a new passion for creating logical solutions for the server side of applications.
I recently graduated from General Assembly's program and during my time there I started and completed multiple projects, which can be found below!
